The translation project is selected from Mr.Yu Qiuyu’s New Edition of The Cultural Odyssey where three chapters have been selected, including "The Manifesto of Hangzhou","Rivers and Mountains in My Mind" and "The Wu Shan Temple" to translate. Characterized by scrambled in appearance but united in spirit, the source text should be translated properly and accurately with two major translation difficulties, which include Chinese long sentences and Chinese culture-loaded words. Hence the translator combines domestication with foreignization to deal with these difficult points.Having analyzed source language carefully and looked for several differences between the source text and the target text, the report can be divided into four parts:1. Background and significance of the report;2. Introduction of the source text in terms of the original author, content and analysis on the source language;3. Translation difficulties on the basis of Nida’s functional equivalence theory and Newmark’s translation theory in different text types;4. Summary of translation difficulties and their solving methods in the translation process as well as existing problems in the further study.
