| How to take care of the elderly becomes increasingly prominent as its population surges in the 21 th era. More and more families have chosen nursing institutions for their old parents where necessary material guarantee is provided. Nevertheless, seldom do those institutions pay attention to spiritual life of those old people. Consequently, many of them who are not spiritually bailed and consoled are exposed to many emotional or behavioral bothering, for instance, reluctance to communicate with others or irritability. Without special attendants, those institutions are at a loss what to do or efficiently deal with the problems mentioned above. That’s why we need professionals in nursing to intervene when problems occur.When taking my internship, I majored in social work, was introduced by our dean to the character. When considering how to give spiritual consolations to the elderly in,one-to-one approach is adopted and substantially solved concerns. The one-to-one approach, which is based on social psychological model and supported with life course theory, by life reviewing and rational emotive therapeutics, finally consoled all old people there. From two perspectives in problem solving here, one is changing themselves, another is getting support from all relevant resource. Definately, my specialty played an important role in improve their mental and emotional state, help them search new value and meaning in their nursing home’s life. The result of this individual case is anticipated, yet we still trace his condition for months, he is in good psychosis all the time. |
