Objective To study the clinical characteristics of type 2 diabetic mellitus(DM) patients with helicobacter pylori(Hp) positive peptic ulcer and the clinical efficacy of treatment with quadruple chemotherapy. Methods 298 cases of helicobacter pylori positive peptic ulcer patients were randomly divided into observation group(type 2 DM patients with helicobacter pylori positive peptic ulcer) and control group(not type 2 DM patients with helicobacter pylori positive peptic ulcer). Both groups were treated with rabeprazole(20mg, bid), bismuth potassium citrate(0.6g, bid), clarithromycin(0.5g, bid) and amoxicillin(1.0g, bid) for 4 weeks. Gastroscope and 14C-urea breath test were used to observe the clearance of clinical efficacy of treatment with quadruple chemotherapy. The relationship of type 2 DM and the clearance of Hp was also observed. Results The clearance rate of Hp in observation and control groups were 72.13% and 86.93% respectively(P<0.05). Meanwhile, the clearance rate of Hp was decreased when the DM duration prolonged and the level of glycated hemoglobin(HbAlc) increased. Conclusion The clinical efficacy of observation group was worse than that of control group, indicating that doctors choose the therapeutic schemes for type 2 diabetic mellitus patients with Hp positive peptic ulcer should base on the clinical feature of both type 2 DM and peptic ulcer.
