| Objective:By observing the clinical effect of Qi-promoting and blood-activating therapy on herpes zoster with Qi stagnation and blood stasis to investigate whether traditional Chinese medicine can alleviate pain caused by herpes zoster of this particular type. This randomized controlled research is conducted in the hope of shorten the course of the disease, alleviate the disease-induced pain, improve the prognosis and propose a new and effective way for the disease.Method:According to the diagnostic criteria for herpes zoster, the study enrolls 40 qualified cases which come from the Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing University of traditional Chinese Medicine from March 2015 to January 2016. All cases are divided into two groups randomly: treatment group and control group, with 20 cases in each. There is no significant statistical difference between these two groups in sex, age, disease location, the stage of disease when they first came to doctor, degree of pain and the initial symptoms(P>0.05). The two groups are all treated with valaciclovir and methylcobalamin for 14 days, while treatment group is given traditional Chinese medicine decoction at the same time. One month after treatment finished, all patients are followed up and check the occurrence of post herpetic neuralgia (PHN) along with the degree of its pain. Finally collect all the needed statistics such as skin lesion, the improvement of pain, etc. Apply certain statistical method to work out the results.Results:(1) The explicit efficiency of the treatment group is 95.00% while the control group is 70.00%(P<0.05), which means the curative effect of the treatment group is significantly higher than that of the control group. (2) The treatment group can shorten the course of the disease, relieve the pain, promote the scab skin off and repair skin lesions. (3) The incidence of PHN in the treatment group is 10%,15% lower than that of the control group. That is to say, the prognosis of the control group is better than the treatment group. |
