Objectives: To investigate the current situation of nurses’ positive affection level, job satisfaction and job performance, and to explore the relationship among the three aspects. Taking job satisfaction as the mediating variable, to analysis the effect of positive affect on job performance. From the positive affection and job satisfaction to guide nursing managers to develop the relevant system, the implementation of humane management, improve the nurses’ job performance. Methods: Using convenience sampling method, selected 800 nurses from the Anhui Province’s 8 above secondary public hospitals as respondents. The positive affection scale, job satisfaction scale and nurse job performance appraisal scale were Survey tools. Epi Data3.0 was used for data entry management and logic verification, SPSS16.0 statistical software was used for data analyses, including descriptive statistics, t test, non-parametric test, variance analysis, Pearson or Spearman correlation analysis and multiple stepwise regression analysis. Job satisfaction as the intervening variable, explored the relationship among positive affection, job satisfaction and job performance, and the internal mechanism of the three aspects. Results: 1. The average score of nurses’ positive affection was 2.95±0.98. The item enthusiastic(3.18±1.11) and happy(3.18±1.13) had a higher score; The item excited(2.74±1.14) and pride(2.74±1.20) had a minimum score. 2. The average score of nurses’ job satisfaction was 3.15±0.49. The dimension “relationship with colleagues”(4.03±0.64) and “the work is recognized”(3.54±0.68) had a higher score; The dimension “work itself”(2.66±0.63) and “salary and welfare”(2.13±0.90) had a minimum score.3. The average score of nurses’ job performance was 4.64±0.44. The dimension “to abide by the rules and regulations”(4.82±4.82) and “work initiative, collaboration with colleagues”(4.80±0.46) had the highest score; “contribute to the hospital construction development”(4.48±0.65) had a lower score. 4. The differences of nurses’ positive affection scores in different departments, positions, labor characteristics, hospital grade, hospital nature and monthly income were statistically significant(P<0.05); The differences of nurses’ job satisfaction scores in different departments, professional titles, positions, the nature of the hospital, the monthly income were statistically significant(P<0.05); The differences of nurses’ job performance scores in different age, department, title, position, marital status, nature of employment, working years, hospital level, nature of hospitals were statistically significant(P<0.05); 5. Correlation analysis showed that the nurse showed positive correlation between job satisfaction and positive affection, the correlation coefficient was 0.535(P<0.535); Nurses’ positive affection positively correlated with job performance, the correlation coefficient was 0.198(P<0.01); Nurses’ job satisfaction and job performance were positively correlated, the correlation coefficient was 0.404(P<0.01). 6. The multivariate linear stepwise regression analysis for nurses’ job performance showed that the final ones which entered the regression equation were: working years, relationship with colleagues, work recognized, the work itself. Variance analysis showed that the four variables together explained 30.2% variation of nurses’ job performance. 7. Nurses’ job satisfaction plays a complete mediating role between positive affect and job performance. Conclusions: 1. Nurses’ positive affection has a positive impact on job satisfaction. 2. Nurses’ positive affection has a positive impact on job performance.3. Nurses’ job satisfaction has a positive impact on job performance. 4. Job satisfaction play a complete mediation role on positive affect and job performance.
