Nurse faculty job satisfaction in West Virgini

Abstract/Summary:
This study examined the degree of job satisfaction of nurse educators employed in baccalaureate programs in schools of nursing in the state of West Virginia. The nursing educator shortage and the need of faculty to remain in their positions inspired this research to identify the variables contributing to job satisfaction and dissatisfaction. The Job Descriptive Index and the Job In General surveys were used to gather data. A total of 164 surveys were mailed to ten baccalaureate schools of nursing A total of 50 surveys were returned. The study found that the majority of nurse faculty members were satisfied with their jobs. Major job satisfiers were, work on the present job, supervision, people on the present job, and the job in general. Dissatisfiers included pay and opportunities for promotion.
