Humanity acts as a very important part in the field of medical science. Looking at the intense doctor-patient relationship, and thinking about why this field has become the most popular topic in mass media, it’s easy to find that the humanity of medical science is fading, out of many reasons. The whole society is waiting for the return of humanity. And that’s why how to bring medical humanity into clinical practice and how to develop clinical humanity has become a new topic for medical educators and researchers. The final aim of the study in the realm of medical humanity, whether medical humanity education, medical humanistic spirit or the quality of medical humanity, is to improve the fulfillment of medical humanity during medical practice, during which process, the respect for life and care are passed on to the patient. Hence, the humanity competence of medical staff determines how well medical humanity is developed. In respond to this, the study of medical practitioners’ professional competence in humanity plays a very important role in theory and in practice. The study explores the theory and practice of the clinician’s professional competence in humanity. Full play is given to literature survey method, empirical research method, theoretical research etc. to sort out the domestic and foreign related research and thus literature review at home and abroad is summarized. Based on the literature review, the study interprets related concepts on the theory and practice of the clinician’s professional competence in humanity, differentiates and analyzes the correlation of medical humanities and humanistic medicine, ability and skills, and that of the medical humanistic spirit and medical professional competence in humanity, and confirms the structure of the medical professional competence in humanity. It puts forward a three dimension construct: the first is the legal dimension in which the doctor is required to legally practice medicine without breaking the law; the second is a very important dimension in medical humanities, in which the doctor is required to abide by the code of ethics and respect the rights of patients, but actually, the doctor behaves with a passive humanistic concern and lack of initiative in exerting their humanistic care; and the last is the dimension of human nature in medicine, the highest level in medical humanity, which is also called the medical treatment based on human nature. Given the importance and practical significance of communication ability in the clinician’s professional competence in humanity, the medical practice focuses on the cultivation of the abilities in the legal practice of medicine, the conduct of the code of ethics, communication and humanistic caring. In order to make the research to the point, the paper explores the current status of the clinician’s professional competence in humanity and the clinician’s knowledge of medical professional competence in humanity by means of data collection, case analysis, in-depth interview and questionnaire survey methods, and makes an in-depth analysis of the causes of their formation, which lays a foundation for the proposal of the specific measures in the final section.By the theoretical research, the psychological concepts of “cognition, emotion, will, belief and behavior” and the ethical concept of “an ethic of care” constitute the theoretical foundation of the cultivation of the clinician’s professional competence in humanity. The efficacy improving the clinician’s professional competence in humanity can be realized only by means of the mastery of the objective laws in the cultivation of the clinician’s abilities and the behavior formation, and the confirmation of the core of the clinician’s professional competence in humanity—the fostering of caring philosophy and humanistic caring ability. Finally, in the practical exploration of the clinician’s professional competence in humanity, the paper poses the following research topics: the continuity and the lifelong consideration of the medical humanistic education are the central part in the cultivation of the clinician’s professional competence in humanity; the core is the cultivation of the clinician’s medical humanistic spirit; the culture of physicians’ four kinds of abilities—the abilities of legally practicing medicine, making ethical decisions, communicating and humanistic caring—desires consolidating.
