Study On Doctor’s Humanistic Literacy Cultivation

Medicine is a discipline of human beings,which is related to the happiness of human beings.Medical humanistic literacy is the soul of medicine,which reflects the fundamental attitude of human to life.The level of doctor’s humanistic literacy directly affects people’s sense of happiness,sense of gain and sense of security.The report of the19 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China pointed out that the main social contradiction in the new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics is "the contradiction between the people’s need for a better life and unbalanced and inadequate development",in the field of medical and health care,yearning for health,paying attention to health and maintaining health have become the common pursuit of more and more people.People are no longer limited to the disease itself,but pay attention to the comprehensive state of physiology,psychology and society in all aspects,hoping to get all-round,full process and all factor health promotion and medical care highlighting human nature,with the development and change of modern medical model,under the background of the construction of healthy China,it is more and more important to cultivate doctors’ humanistic literacy.This paper discusses the practical needs of the cultivation of doctors’ humanistic literacy from three aspects: the objective situation of medical development,the humanistic appeal of society for medicine and the value orientation of healthy China.Based on the literature research at home and abroad,the following research is carried out by empirical investigation and comparative research.The first part is an overview of the cultivation of doctors’ humanistic literacy.Firstly,this chapter starts with the expectation of the society on the occupation of doctors,analyzes the characteristics and standards of the occupation of doctors,and puts forward the roles of doctors.Secondly,according to the professional needs of doctors,the core components of doctors’ humanistic literacy are defined as doctors’ ethical literacy,doctors’ philosophical literacy,doctors’ psychological literacy and doctors’ legal literacy.Thirdly,in view of the importance of the cultivation of doctors’ humanistic literacy,this paper introduces the current mainstream model of the cultivation of doctors’ humanistic literacy around a series of relationships involved in doctors’ clinical practice.The second part is titled the theory of cultivation of doctors’ humanistic literacy.To determine the theory of cultivation of doctors’ humanistic literacy by tracing the eastern and western thoughts of humanity.The first section starts with the "benevolence" advocated by Confucianism in traditional culture,pursues the gentleman’s personality and the virtuous society,discussing the cultivation of virtue from both family and propriety.The second section discusses the development and progress of the relationship between medicine and humanity from the simple medical humanitarianism in the Hippocratic of ancient Greece,the "universal love" that gave birth to western modern thought of humanism in the middle ages and the call of western humanitarianism in Renaissance.The third section discusses the cultivation theory of doctors’ humanistic literacy,including adult learning theory and constructivism theory.The third part is titled a present research on the cultivation of doctors’ humanistic literacy.Applying questionnaire survey and in-depth interviews among young physicians and patients in several Chinese 3-A-grade hospital,we found that the majority of physicians do possess good manners in our country,most physicians will be able to abide by the doctors professional code of conduct,performing the duty of curing patents cautiously,continuously improve the quality of medical service,yet there are still some physicians with the absence of humanities,embodied as following: lacking of lofty faith of profession and Mind reversal with common psychological occupational burnout;A certain type of utilitarian value orientation and decreasing of professional dedication;lacking of team spirit with aggressive personality;The extreme supremacy of scientific and technological rationality and lacking of awareness of the significance of humanities value;the one-sided professional thinking and negligence of holistic systems thinking;The disregard and evasion of medical errors;in addition to physicians inherent reasons,The main reason should be attributed to some external factors of cultivation.The specific reason is that the professional ecology of doctors is not good enough,humanistic construction of Hospital is marginalized,the relevant specification system remains to be perfected,trust between doctor and patients has been worsening and alienating.The forth part is titled the enlightenment of the cultivation of doctors’ humanistic literacy.This chapter further analyzes the current situation of doctors’ humanistic literacy cultivation in some regions of western countries and Asian countries’.The United States has sound institutional support for the cultivation of doctors’ humanistic literacy,sound medical education and training,as well as world-renowned humanistic hospitals which providing a systemic textbook and creating an environment for the cultivation of doctors’ humanistic literacy.The General Medical Council(GMC)has issued the "High Quality Medics" plus eight affiliated guidelines,which emphasize the responsibilities of doctors are to ensure patients’ access to basic medical protection.Concept of humanistic literacy can be comprehended between the lines of the contents.Those documents and guidelines provide instructive frame for the cultivation of doctors’ humanistic literacy.Singapore can also draw lessons from the cultivation of doctors’ humanistic literacy.Taiwan is one of the first regions in Asia to implement hospital evaluation and total quality management(TQM),and take the lead to achieve the one of the areas of the civil health insurance,Taiwan chang gung medical system was established with one-stop medical care unit model,its outstanding characteristic is to integrate the medical team,set up a standard process,optimize the use of space,integrated diagnosis and treatment team,continuous medical services,the model improves the medical quality,create greater social and economic value more effectively.It fully embodies the concern of medical humanities.In Hong Kong,China,the perfect government construction,good hospital management and public interaction also contribute to the cultivation of doctors’ humanistic literacy.The fifth part is titled to cultivation strategy of doctors’ humanistic literacy.On the basis of full investigation and a large number of literature reviews,this article puts forward strategies for the cultivation of doctors’ humanistic literacy.Firstly,we should perfect the cultivation system of humanistic literacy of government doctors by establishing the basic medical and health system with Chinese characteristics and the modern clinical medical education system with Chinese characteristics.Secondly,the media should guide the cultivation of doctors’ humanistic literacy and industry organizations should promote the cultivation of doctors’ humanistic literacy to create a social atmosphere for the cultivation of doctors’ humanistic quality.Thirdly,strengthen the hospital cultural construction,improve the hospital role of "health-centered","patient-centered" team cooperation and carry out medical social work to strengthen the hospital cultural construction;Finally,the self-cultivation of professional dedication,the practice of narrative medicine,and the participation in voluntary service are the means to complete the cultivation of doctors’ humanistic literacy.This study comparing cultivation strategies of physicians’ humanistic literacy between China and regions of developed countries.Especially proceeding in-depth investigation and social background in mainland,conditions in Hong Kong and Taiwan cultivation of doctor’s humanistic literacy.Combining with empirical research,thorough clinical and community,objective observation and real records,the study of cultivation of doctors’ humanistic literacy is provided by first-hand information.Aiming to put forward some countermeasures on doctor’s humanistic literacy cultivation,thus promoting the healthy development of individual physicians.To promote cultural construction of hospitals’ humanistic literacy,and healthily promote the development of undertakings in the fields of medical and public health.
