To Evaluated The Effect Of Iodine Deficiency Disease In Xinjiang Production And Construction Corps

Objective: To realize the current status of iodine deficiency disease(IDD) prevention and treatment inXinjiang Production and Construction Groups， and evaluate the effect of mainly comprehensiveprevention and treatment solutions of universal salt iodization， provide scientific reference gist for furtherstrategies of IDD prevention and treatment.Methods: Take1200elementary students samples between8to10years old in30farms of corps with PPSsampling method， investigate the status of goiter， and detect the content of iodised-salt in there families;select360of them and measure the urine iodine. Investigate the knowledge of health education in600selected fifth grade elementary students and150housewives. According to the national generalrequirement， combining the actual situation in the Xinjiang Production and Construction Groups，Byiodized salt, goiter rate, urinary iodine levels of knowledge and awareness of health education, preventionand control measures evaluated before and after the intervention effect of contrast.Analyzed with SPSS18.0statistical software， and described normal distribution measurement data with (x±s) and thechi-square test and parametric test.Results:(1)The iodized-salt covering rate， percent of pass rate and the utilization rate of qualifiediodized-salt of Xinjiang Production and Construction Group residents were all more than95%， meet thenational level standard of IDD-elimination.Average iodine concentration in salt of two surveys were31.2±7.6mg/kg and30.91±7.0mg/kg， covering rate of iodized-salt were98.6%and97.5%， thequalification rate of the iodized-salt were98.0%、98.5%，taking rate of qualified iodized-salt were96.6%and96.1%，the percentage of non-iodized salt were1.4%and2.5%.(2) After the intervention of iodized-saltprevention and treatment the percentage of children’s goiter decresing year by year， and no repeatedrecourrence by the changing of iodized-salt concentration and children’s urine iodine level. The percentageof children’s goiter in8to10years old children was3.4%in2001，there was2.8%decreased compared tothe2005(6.1%)， and reached the national standard range of eliminating IDD.(3) The median of8to10years old children’s urine iodine was235.3μg/L in2011， the percentage of sample whose urnine iodineless than50μg/L is1.5%，all the median of every age group’s urine iodine was more than100μg/L，therewas significantly improved compared to the result of2005(176.1μg/L)，the median of children’s urineiodine of north Xinjiang region was greater than the the median of children’s urine iodine of south Xinjiangregion， but both of them were in the level between the200to299μg/L as WHO and other worldorganizations recomanded.(4)Investigate the IDD prevention and treatment knowledge and intervinedmeanwhile in the same year， the awareness rate of elementary students IDD prevention and treatmentknowledge increased from39.7%to84.4%， less than82.9%(before intervened) and94.6(after intervened)in2011， the awareness rate of IDD health education in housewives also been increased(Increased form74.7%to84.5%in2005， and increased from78.8%to94.0%in2011).Conclusions:After the mainly comprehensive prevention and treatment solutions of universal saltiodization， the effect of IDD prevention and treatment in Xinjiang Production and Construction Group isremarkable， the iodized-salt covering rate， percent of pass rate and the utilization rate of qualifiediodized-salt of Xinjiang Production and Construction Group residents were all more than95%; thepercentage of goiter is decreased significantly，the median of urine iodine is increased significantly and allmeet the requirement of national IDD elimination， the iodine nutrition is in the appropriate level， butthere is still a IDD endemic in local Xinjiang Production and Construction Groups residents. The children’siodine nutrition status in Xinjiang Production and Construction Groups has been greatly improved， thecurrent concentration of iodised-salt not only meet the requirement of population， but also there is upwardtrend year by year; Through the health education intervened in the focus population， the understanding ofIDD is changed apparently.
