Efficacy Of Sequential Colon Dialysis Combined With Artificial Liver Support System In Treating Chronic Severe Hepatitis

Aims:To investigate the efficacy of sequential colon dialysis combining with artificial liver support system in treating patients with chronic severe hepatitis.Methods:Fifty patients with chronic severe hepatitis were randomly and equally divided into two groups:treatment group and control group. Patients in the control group underwent comprehensive management of severe hepatitis and artificial liver treatment, while those in the treatment group underwent comprehensive management of severe hepatitis, artificial liver treatment and sequential colon dialysis. TBIL, PTA, NH3, ET and IL-1β of patients were tested before treatment and after4weeks of treatment separately. The therapeutic efficacy and the incidence of complications were compared between the two groups.Results:The incidences of debilitation, abdominal distention, constipation and endotoxemia in pretreated patients were62.86%,65.71%,51.43%and100%, respectively. After treatment, these symptoms were improved and the levels of TBIL, PTA, NH3, ET and IL-1β.decreased in all patients. The efficacy achieved in the treatment group was superior to that in the control group (all P<0.05and partly P<0.01). The occurrence rates of infection, hepatorenal syndrome, hepatic encephalopathy and alimentary tract hemorrhage in the treatment group were significantly lower than those in the control group(22.22%vs58.82%,5.56%vs41.18%,11.11%vs58.82%,22.22%vs58.82%, respectively; all P<0.05and partly P<0.01).Conclusions:Sequential colon dialysis can improve the symptoms, decrease the levels of TBIL, PTA, NH3, ET and IL-1β, and reduce the incidence of complications in patients with chronic severe hepatitis.
