Objective:To discuss the relevancy between phlegm-heat syndrome and obstructive sleep apnea hyperpnoea syndromes (OSAHS) associated with type â…¡ diabetes.Methods:161OSAHS patients treated by our hospital from September2012to September2013were sampled and divided into two groups:63of which are OSAHS patients with Type â…¡ diabetes as the observation group; and98OSAHS patients without Type II diabetes as the compare group. these patients were further divided into two different syndrome categories by the standard of phlegm-heat syndrome, for analyzing the ratio of these categories and observation data. Results:â‘ Ratio of phlegm-heat syndrome patients is higher than the compare group. Exposure odds ratio of the former is2.196times of that of the latter (95%confidence interval is at1.147-4.205times).â‘¡OSAHS patients with phlegm-heat syndrome are younger and with higher AHI and lower SaO2low than patients without it. All these above differences are statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion:Phlegm-heat syndrome is correlated with OSAHS associated with typeâ…¡ diabetes. OSAHS with type â…¡ diabetes patients have higher rates of Phlegm-heat syndrome, with twice the possibility than that of OSAHS without type â…¡ diabetes patients (95%confidence interval at1.147-4.205times). And OSAHS with type â…¡ diabetes patients which have phlegm-heat syndrome tend to be younger and suffer more severe OSAHS.
