Effects Of Chinese Medicinal Herbs "Modified Epiglottis ZhuYu Decoction" On Qi Deficiency And Blood Stasis Type Of Obstructive Sleep Apnea Hypopnea Syndrome

Objective:To evaluate the efficacy of Chinese medicinal herbs "modified epiglottis zhuyu decoction" for qi deficiency and blood stasis type of obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome.Methods:30 cases of qi deficiency and blood stasis type of OSAHS were selected as treatment group and the other 30 cases of OSAHS patients were randomly selected as the control group. In addition to exercise treatment, the cases of treatment group were given "modified epiglottis zhuyu decoction" for 2 months, while no other treatment on control group. Then compared the two groups before and after treatment on Integral elements of TCM and Western medicine sleep monitoring indicators.Results:Points on Integral elements of TCM, apnea-hyperpnoea index (AHI), lowest nocturnal oxygen saturation(LSPO2) of two groups were improved to varying degrees, however the treatment group showed a more significant improvement, [Integral elements of TCM,27.29±9.38 vs 12.85±7.52, P<0.05],[Snore,2.92±0.26 vs 1.81±0.39], [Arouse,0.25±0.59 vs 0.14±0.36], [Sleepiness,1.29±0.46 vs 0.37±0.49], [Fatigue,1.40±0.63 vs 0.59±0.57], [BMI,27.01±2.98 vs 25.38±2.86, P<0.05], [AHI, 39.75±24.37 vs 26.47±16.65, P<0.05], [lowest nocturnal oxygen saturation, 73.29±10.68% vs 86.07±5.72%, P<0.05],and there was no adverse and toxic effect seen in this group.whereas the improvement seen in control group was not significant after 2 months,[Integral elements of TCM,23.78±8.20 vs 20.73±7.77, P>0.05],[BMI, 26.46±4.61 vs25.80±4.21,P>0.05],[AHI,34.89±26.84 vs 31.92±26.61, P>0.05], [lowest nocturnal oxygen saturation,77.53±12.28% vs 79.17±11.04%, P>0.05].Conclusion:Chinese medicinal herbs "modified epiglottis zhuyu decoction" was effective on qi deficiency and blood stasis type of obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome,and was well tolerated, no adverse and toxic effect.
