Objective:To analysis the clinical features of patients with cryptogenic cirrho sis in Xinjiang region, and to explore the possible etiology of cryptogenic cirrhosis in,high HBV prevalence area. Methods:Retrospective analysis of the241cases of cryptogenic cirrhosis patients meet the diagnostic criteria in the first affiliated hosp ital of Xinjiang Medical University from January2001to January2009,including222cases of cryptogenic cirrhosis and cryptogenic cirrhosis19patients withhepatoc ellular carcinoma, its related information such as gender, age, ethnicity, hypertension, dia betes and other conditions associated with metabolic syndrome were analyzed.Resu Its:4023cases of liver cirrhosis patients in241cases of cryptogenic cirrhosis met, occupy5.99%overall,In the241cases,98cases(40.66%)with diabetes mellitus,hy pertension55cases(22.82%),of which222cases were pure cryptogenic cirrhosis (median age,54.86years±16.09years,44%male), cryptogenic cirrhosis with hepatoc ellular carcinoma in19patients,hepatocellular carcinoma incidence is7.88%,median age67.42years±7.03years,47%male),diabetes incidence in pure cryptogenic cirrhosi s group and cryptogenic cirrhosis with hepatocellular carcinoma group were40%a nd57%. Hypertension incidence in cryptogenic cirrhosis group and cryptogeniccirr hosis with hepatocellular group were20%and58%.Univariate analysis showed tha t age and hypertension were significantdifference between cryptogenic cirrhosis and cryptogenic cirrhosis with hepatocellular carcinoma(t=-6.47,P<0.001)and(t=13.8,P<0.001),systolic and diastolic blood pressure also had significant difference in both gro ups (t=-3.63,P<0.001) and (t=-3.42,P<0.001),multivariate logistic analysis showed th at aged, hypertension were prompted to enter cryptogenic cirrhosis independent risk factors for hepatocellular carcinoma occurrence (OR=1.086;95%CI:1.03-1.14,P<0.001and OR=5.4,95%CI:2.05-14.23,P<0.001respectively).Conclusion:Our study shows t hat cryptogenic cirrhosis patients from Xinjiang of China where is a high HBVpre valence area, having higher type2diabetes and high blood pressure metabolic synd rome incidence,in line with the clinical features of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease may also play an important role among cryptogeni c cirrhosis in high HBV prevalence area like Xinjiang.
