Objective: The retrospective analysis of the etiological factor and the prevelance of metabolic syndrome about cirrhosis in XinJiang area. Methods: To review the 4023 cirrhosis patients in the first affiliated hospital of Xinjiang Medical University from January of 2002 to June of 2009, and noted the sex, age, race,etiopathogenisis, complication and weather with hypertension, diabetes mellitus and the cause of death. Results: 4023 patients data were included. male/female ratio were equal to 2643:1380. The subjects of Han nationality 3072, Uyghur ethnic 596, Kazakhstan 138, Muslim 131, other ethnics 82; the distribute of age feom 1 to 92, and the most patients in the age of 51-61. 2417(60.10%) cases were caused by the infection of hepatitis B virus,557 (13.80%) caused by hepatitis C virus, 372(9.24%) cases for Autoimmune liver disease, alcoholic airrhosis 302(7.51%)cases, 246(6.11%) cases were caused by cryptogenic cirrhosis, 133 cases caused by other reasons. 859 cases cirrhosis complic liver cancer, the total case fatality was 21.40%. 78.60% liver cancer caused by the infection of hepatitis B virus, 13.40% liver cancer caused by hepatitis C, 2.10% liver cancer caused by alcohol and 2.21% liver cancer caused by cryptogenic cirrhosis. 332 cases(8.25%)died in hospital, male 238, female 94. 2368 cases emerge different complication, 957 cases (40.40%) with the complication of exsanguine shock of upper gastrointestinal bleeding, the second was primary liver cancer. The risk of liver cancer caused by infection of hepatitis B virus in Uyghur ethnic was 0.677 times as Han nationality(p<0.05).The risk of complic diabetes mellitus in cryptogenic cirrhosis, cirrhosis with hepatitis C virus and alcoholic cirrhosis was 4.76, 1.46 and 1.51 times as the cirrhosis with hepatitis B virus (p=0.000, 0.014, 0.032).The risk of complic hypertension in cardiac cirrhosis, cryptogenic cirrhosis and cirrhosis with hepatitis C virus was 14.95, 5.08 and 3.16 times as the cirrhosis with hepatitis C virus (p=0.000). Conclusion: The data showed that, the main cause of cirrhosis was type B hepatitis, C hepatitis, autoimmune liver disease, alcoholic liver disease and cryptogenic cirrhosis in order. The canceration rate of cirrhosis in this group was 21.40% and the risk of liver cancer caused by cirrhosis causes with hepatitis B virus in Uyghur ethnic was 0.677 times as Han nationality.
