ObjectiveObserve the effect of movement-acupuncture combined with abdomen-acupuncture on treating nerve-root type cervical spondylosis by the method of randomized clinical trial, to explore an effective acupuncture therapy on treating nerve-root type cervical spondylosis.MethodsBy means of the PEMS3.1, the70patients included are randomly divided into two groups:the movement-acupuncture combined with abdomen-acupuncture group (the treatment group) and the rare abdomen-acupuncture group (the control group). For the control group, the abdomen-acupuncture’s prescription is Yinqiguiyuan needles (the points of Zhongwan, Xiawan, Qihai, Guanyuan, deep), Shangqu(both sides, shallow), Huaroumen(both sides, middle), Shiguan(both sides, shallow). For the patients with numbness or pain of the upper-limb, the Huaroumen Triangle needles are added(the suffering side, shallow). After inserting the needles remain for30minutes without any action. For the treatment group, the abdomen-acupuncture’s prescription is the same as control group, and after the abdomen-acupuncture, the movement-acupuncture is combined:for the patients with numbness or pain in the upper-limb, the Ashi points are added, which is in the offside leg. After the Ashi points are needled, ask the patients to move the suffering upper-limb at the same time until the numbness or pain is released, such operation takes three times for each therapy. All cases are treated for one time a day, five times for a course of treatment, with2days off between the courses of treatment, and in whole with2courses of treatment. And all cases are observed for3times:pre-therapy, post-therapy and one month after therapy. To identify the curative effect’s differences between the two groups, the SF-McGill and NPQ score are used. Results 1. The comparison of general situations between the two groups pre-therapy: By means of the random method, there are no significant differences between the two groups on sexes, ages, patterns of syndrome, therapy time and each score of SF-McGill and NPQ scales (included the PRI score, the VAS score, the PPI score and the NPQ score).2. The comparison of symptom scores of post-therapy between two groups: After therapies, there are significant differences on the gap of the PRI score, the VAS score, the PPI score and the NPQ score between the two groups (P<0.05), which shows that the treatment group can reduce the patients’symptom scores to a marked degree compared with the control group.3. The comparison on overall effects between two groups after therapy: For the treatment group,2cases are cured,27cases have marked curative effect,3cases have certain curative effect and1case doesn’t respond to treatment, the total effective rate is87.87%. For the control group, no cases are cured,24cases have marked curative effect,7cases have certain curative effect, and2cases don’t respond to treatment, the total effective rate is72.72%. After the statistical analysis, there are significant differences on the overall effects of the two groups (P<0.05), which shows that the treatment group is better than the control group on the overall effect.4. The comparison of symptom scores on follow-up period:There are also significant differences on PRI score, the VAS score, the PPI score and the NPQ score between the two groups (P<0.05), which shows that the treatment group’s curative effect is more consolidation.ConelusionsCompared with the rare abdomen-acupuncture, the movement-acupuncture combined with abdomen-acupuncture has higher curative effect rate on treating the nerve-root type cervical spondylosis, which states that the movement-acupuncture combined with abdomen-acupuncture has a marked curative effect on treating the nerve-root type cervical spondylosis, meanwhile the curative effect is consolidation.
