Objective: Gastric cancer is the most common digestive tract malignant tumor in theworld, the incidence of gastric cancer ranked fourth level around the world, and themortality rate of gastric cancer ranked second. The incidence of gastric cancer hasdecreased in the European and American countries in recent years, but in Asia theincidence of gastric cancer has still increased, especially in northwest China. Gastriccancer also is a serious threat to human’s health. Hehuang Valley is locatized betweenDaban Mountain and Jishi Mountain, in northeast of Qinghai-tibet plateau, and it isone of the region where the morbidity and mortality of gastric cancer on the highlevel in China. This study aims at analysing the general clinical data of gastric cancerpatients in Affiliated Hospital of Qinghai University from September2009toOctober2013, to understand the clinical epidemiological features of gastric cancer atdifferent genders, ages and different nationalities in Hehuang Valley, to providereference for the prevention and treatment of gastric cancer in this area.Method: To Collect the patients with gastric cancer came from Affiliated Hospital ofQinghai University between September2009and October2013, all of the patientscame from Hehuang Valley, and all of them has diagnosed as gastric cancer bygastroscope biopsy and postoperative pathology biopsy. According to gender, age, ethnic, disease location and type of pathology and postoperative pathological stagingdo retrospectively analyzed. Results: Of615cases, the mean age is55.7±11years old, median age is of59yearsold, and minimum age is22years old, maximum age is82years old. The ratio ofmale to female is2.8:1,bud the male to female ratio is1.5:1in youth group. Indifferent ethnic group, the constituent ratio of gastric cancer in Han nationality is onthe highest level. The constituent ratio of gastric cancer in Han, Muslim (includingHui, Salar) and Tibetan is79.4%,13.8%and6.7%, respectively. In different genderand different ethnic, there was no statistically significant difference in the areas ofgastric cancer, pathological type, degree of differentiation and postoperativepathological staging (P>0.05). In different ethnic groups and different gender, thelower1/3gastric cancer had the highest proportion in gastric cancer, the pathologicaltype is given priority to adenocarcinoma, the differentiation degree is given priority tomoderately/poorly differentiated adenocar-cinoma, and the postoperative pathologicstaging is given priority to stage III. In different age groups, the disease location ofgastric cancer and degree of differentiation have statistically significant, the differentage groups are given priority to the lower1/3gastric cancer, but the constituent ratioof the upper1/3gastric cancer in the elderly group is higher than that in middle-agedand young group (P<0.05). The constituent ratio of high malignant degree gastric cancer is higher in younger patients (P<0.05). In different age groups, the differencein postoperative pathologic staging and pathological type of gastric cancer has nostatistical significance (P>0.05).Conclusion: The constituent ratio of male with gastric cancer are significantly higherthan the constituent ratio of female in Hehuang Valley, and the Han nationality havethe highest proportion in all patients. The distal gastric carcinoma is most common indifferent nationalities, and the most common pathological types are adenocarcinoma, the poor differentiation and late postoperative clinical stage are more common in allcases. Poor differentiated and undifferentiated gastric cancer are the most commontypes in young patients, so as to more malignant has show in young patients than inmiddle-aged and elderly patients.
