Research On Data News Practice In Big Data Background

Global Big Data Conference was held in Beijing in January, 2016. Big Data has been applied more widely for automobile, retail and other industries. Since 2013 has been considered as the year when "big data era" started, the concept of "big data" have penetrated all sectors of society including journalism. Data journalism has been appreciated as the time passes. “Data journalism”, similar to Data-driven journalism, is a new report form that combines journalism with big data. This paper will study the "SHUDU" column of WANGYI with research methods, such as case-study approach, content analysis method,literature research method, etc., with purpose to find the future direction of data journalism which is a brand-new interdisciplinary production in the background of media convergence.This paper will form a comprehensive and clear understanding over the data journalism with overview of its concept, features, production processes, impacts and with analysis of evolution history. Although data journalism has drawn public attention in recent years, early journalists began to explore the use of data in news in 1960 s. In fact, the data journalism is developed from precision journalism. Simply put, the data journalism is a type of news report. It requires reporter to extract valuable news information from mass data with big data technology, and to visualize these information to the public. Compared with the traditional process, big data has penetrated the whole process of data journalism, from data acquiring, data processing to data presenting. The data journalism will enhance cross-border cooperation between journalism and other industries, make media workers develop the sense of big data, and realize personalized news production.Not only has this paper analyzed the general situation and characteristics of “SHUDU”,but grasped the development following three aspects: data acquiring, data processing and data presenting. The research put forward some targeted countermeasures for the problems faced by "SHUDU", in order to provide guidance for the development of it. Eventually, the paper points out the overall directions of national data journalism: recognizing its defects,setting up an open data resource environment and increasing the proportion of predictive reporting.
