A country relies on urban configuration as the mark of a city’s developing power, while the citizens would sense their city’s vigor by experiencing its changes. Actions and activities by citizens signify urban space, which in turn affects the life of citizens.Such interaction would leads to change of urban structure. Overlay of inconsistent elements in Ming City has likewise resulted from the interaction between structural change and citizens’ activities. This article targets the density of Ming City’s non-residential area, analyzes environmental materials of this area, and summarizes representative data from urban structure, in hope of abstracting laws behind structural changes and formulating the most suitable plans to constrain expansion of Ming City.Basic theories are presented in the first section of this article. It introduces basic principles and points out the need to study non-residential area of Ming City.Arrangement and analysis of data of Ming City’s non-residential area and relate such date to structure would help us to generalize laws for structural configuration and constitute references for future preservation of historical sites and expansion of urban spaces.Sections 2 through 4 are the body of the research, which studies the overall density of Ming City and infers past expansions of this area, then divides the area into functional categories and analyses density for each category. Then the most representative land block is selected for deep research and as the basis for a summary of density feature and mechanics of formation of every category of the block.Section 5 is an extensional part. Based on research and analysis of the main part of Ming City’s non-residential area, this section reclassifies the area in accordance withdensity and structure, pinpoints non-residential blocks that require special control for use as complexes and medical facilities, and seeks ways to control density of such special blocks. This article is a sub item in the series research about Ming city morphology, and it’s the second part.
