Today, in the increasingly competition, market demands are changing towards more varieties, smaller batch and non-standard. The project schedule management often has many problems such as:changing requirements, resource constraints, too many special design items, lots of item types while small quantities etc. when the project enterprises faced is non-standard equipment manufacturing project, which will most likely lead to delivery delay and poor quality. Therefore, improve the level of the project schedule management is the key to enhance enterprises competitiveness. With the intent of finding out the appropriate schedule management theory methods and tools to guide building an effective schedule management method (mode) for non-standard equipment manufacturing projects, this paper finds the appropriate schedule management theory method and tool-critical chain theory via studying current project schedule management methods, tools and their practical applications, including Gantt charts, critical path method, PERT method, constraint theory and critical chain theory and analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of each theory. In H company as an example, based on the theory of critical chain technology this thesis analyses variety of problems in compressor projects schedule management and digging the root causes and building a set of new schedule management methods and tools for H company compressor projects. The new methods and tools are used in the actual engineering design schedule management of non-standard compressor PS project to verify their applicability and feasibility. And the results are almost all the activities on the critical chain without delay and high completion rate and on-time rate.Application results in this thesis will be great reference for similar applying.
