| Traditional village is a living environment formed gradually in the comprehensive influence of natural environment, the geomantic theory, clan consciousness, as well as the level of economic development. With the accelerating of the process of modernization and urbanization, different degrees of changes have taken place in the economic structure, social relations and the form of space in the traditional village. Rural space is built in the unit of family, thus making public space become the weak link in the construction of traditional village. With the rapid rise of the economy in Jiangnan area, the disorderly appearance of public space run counter to the villagers’ daily life and the requirements of economic development. Therefore, how to integrate and restructure the public space of traditional village in order to improve the overall appearance of the village, to stimulate the development of public life, and to promote the development of tourism industry and other related economic is particularly important. This paper takes the public space of traditional villages in Jiangnan area as the research object, and focus on the inheritance and development of the physical environment and humanistic spirit in it. The research is guided by the thought that to lay equal stress on overall optimization and the constituent elements integration, and take the demand of the villagers’ public life and the needs of the development of the village in to consideration, trying to explore feasible strategies for public space integration and reconstruction. The paper mainly concludes the following four aspects. Firstly, analyze the current situation of the development of public space in traditional villages in Jiangnan area, focusing on the new situation, the existing problems and the trend during its development process. Through the analysis, I draw the conclusion that it is inevitable for the public space in "ordinary" traditional villages to adjust and reconstruct in order to adapt to the ever changing subjective and objective conditions. Secondly, apply the relevant principles of landscape ecology to the study of public space, and divide the constituent elements of the public space into "patch", "corridor" and "matrix" in accordance with their morphological characteristics. Study the law of constitution and the morphological characteristics of each element, and study the relationship between the elements. Try to grasp the essence of traditional through this part of research, and to provide the foundation and basis for the integration and reconstruction strategy. Thirdly, select representative traditional villages in Jiangnan area, and systematical analysis their basic situation, the elements of public space, the specific improvement measures, the characteristics and inspiration during the updating in depth, through which provides the case support for the following research. Finally, summarize the theory and case studies in this paper, and further analysis the motivation of public space integration and reconstruction and the ideas and principles it follows in the traditional villages in Jiangnan area, then put forward specific design strategies and implementation strategies for the integration and reconstruction of each element and the public space system. Then take the specific practice case of public space renovation planning in Jiangshan Village in Guchen Town Gaochun District in Nanjing to prove the feasibility of the research results.Traditional village is the precious wealth left over by history, and the public space is the most diverse part in it, which can mostly reflect the local culture and custom. To update the public space elements and the overall in the form of "darning", and to deal with a series of problems such as the protection and excavation of the resources, the integrity and harmony of the space form, the inheritance and replacement of the function, the reinforcement and optimization of the order, and the rationality and efficiency during the implementation process, opened up a new thought for the development of traditional village in order to meet the needs of modernization. |
