With the rapid development of our economy, the process of building city has pushed forward continuously, energy issues have become increasingly prominent, it is crunch time to carry out environmental protection and energy-saving job. The building energy consumption monitoring system could manage and control the whole process and all parameters of energy consumption. It also could monitor and analyze building energy consumption dynamically to achieve fine management and control of the building. So that the energy and greenhouse reductions can be achieved.This paper conducts the research and analysis to the existing building energy consumption monitoring system. According to the low scalability, poor flexibility and high implementation cost of traditional monitoring system,this paper combines wireless sensor network which is one of the key technologies of the Internet of things and building energy consumption monitoring. And then a set can be used for energy monitoring system of large public buildings has been designed and realized in laboratory simulation environment.According to the characteristics of the wireless sensor network technology, ZigBee is low cost, low power and self organized. In this paper, we choose ZigBee to realize the wireless sensor network and develop the building energy consumption monitoring system by using the method of software engineering. Our experimental results show that the system achieves the expected effect in data acquisition, real-time monitoring, data storage and so on. The research contents and results are as follows:1. The overall framework of the building energy consumption monitoring system is proposed, it is divided into three function subsystems, data acquisition subsystem, data transmission subsystem and monitoring center software system.2. Hardware structure of the ZigBee network node is designed, terminal nodes and router nodes are equipped with CC2530 chip and CC2591 chip, the coordinator node as a gateway is equipped with the micro controller chip MSP430 and RJ-45 Ethernet interface. The ZigBee protocol stack transplantation is realized, and a tree structure wireless sensor network is built successfully. Then we test node joining, data acquisition and data transmission basically.3. An improved tree routing algorithm based on neighbor table is proposed. NS-2 experimental results show that the improved algorithm enables the original tree routing algorithm more flexible and improves routing efficiency.4. Function and interaction of the monitoring center software system is designed. Serial communication and network communication of the software system is realized. At last, we initially complete the basic model of building energy consumption monitoring system based on wireless sensor network under laboratory conditions.
