With the rapid development of urban rail transit, the total energy consumption grows rapidly. The main energy consumption for Chinese urban rail transit is electrical energy consumption and about50%of it is used for traction. There are many methods for reducing train traction energy consumption. In order to verify these methods’effect for energy-saving, we need to collect accurate data of train operation energy consumption. Nowadays, data acquisition equipment for train operation energy consumption based on wireless communication has been developed in Europe and not in China. A data acquisition system for train operation energy consumption based on wireless sensor network is designed in this paper, which provides a tool for assessing train operation energy consumption and creates convenient conditions for study of train energy-saving operation.The proposed data acquisition system is based on wireless sensor network. It can collect the data including voltage and current of train traction. These data are sent to host computer through the ZigBee-GPRS gateway. The host computer interface designed by C++Builder6.0is used for data display. And a data storage module is designed for data storage and query. The main work of this paper includes:1. The background and significance of the research is stated, especially the development trend and research status of wireless sensor networks and the energy management system. The power supply system and energy consumption measurement of urban rail transit traction system are analyzed and the overall requirement of the data acquisition system for train operation energy consumption is proposed.2. The structure of data acquisition system for train operation energy consumption is designed. According to the structure, the modular idea is used to design hardware and software for system. The system includes the sensor module, ZigBee module, network gateway module and display module.3. To make the system more suitable for practical application, the data acquisition system of train operation energy consumption is improved. Improvements include ZigBee routing algorithm for energy balance, time synchronization between ZigBee nodes and the design of train data storage module.4. A platform is built to debug ZigBee network, the gateway and display interface of PC in the lab environment. The results of the test prove that the scheme of the data acquisition system is feasible. Then the simulation environment of train power supply for testing the data storage module is built. The test results show that the data storage module can achieve the data acquisition and storage, but need to improve in future.
