Qingcaosha reservoir, locating in the Yangtze River mouth area, is the largest river estuary reservoir in Asia, which is also the major water supplier of Shanghai. Wireless sensor network based on the GPRS technology has been built in the reservoir. However, due to the coverage problems in this region, its stability remains a problem, resulting often data transmission interruption. As an alternative, a monitoring wireless sensor network based on ZigBee technology is studied in this paper.Based on the study of the advanced application of wireless sensor network at home and abroad, combining the actual situation of the reservoir, this paper chooses ZigBee technology to design the wireless sensor network, which is of reliable data transmission and big network capacity. This paper makes a study on the main content of ZigBee technology in detail, and designs the hardware of the node module on the basis of the combination of integrated micro controller CC2530 and front radio frequency amplifier CC2591. Taking IAR Embedded Workbench as the development environment, this paper realizes the coordination network, router network, serial communication and the function of coordination with radio. Taking QT as the development platform, this paper designs a PC software, which can realize the remote monitoring of water quality. According to the actual geographical environment of the reservoir, this paper locates the router nodes, adjusts the network parameters, and completes the design of wireless sensor network.This paper applies the ZigBee technology in water quality monitoring of Qingcaosha Reservoir, in order to realize the remote monitoring of water quality at a certain region, which is also of significance at promotion in other field of water monitoring.
