The Research Of Reconstructing Historical District On Qingdao Zhongshan Road

This paper takes the historic district of Zhongshan Road in Qingdao city as researchobject. By using the main research methods including the field-survey, data analysis,induction and summary to investigate and research on the residents, buildings and spatialenvironment in the historic district of Zhongshan Road and analyzing the data obtained, anin-depth study has been made on the strategy for its protection and upgrade.This paper is consisted of six chapters: the first chapter is the introduction part wherethe background and purpose of the research is discussed and the research method of thistopic is elaborated; the second chapter is the theoretical elaboration and analysis of thepresent situation, emphatically discusses the cognition process and influencing factors for theprotection of the historic district; the third chapter is dedicated to the field research andanalysis of buildings, scenic spots, roads, traffic, skyline, public space and the status quo ofresidents within the district to find out the reasons for its decline; the fourth chapter, basedon the third chapter, concentrates on the evaluation of the measures taken by the localgovernment and their results. The fifth chapter makes reference to the revival process of theLace Market in Nottingham in the UK to find out the strategy and means for revival of thehistoric district; and the sixth chapter is mainly to solve the problem, lists the limiting factorson the revival of the historic district of Zhongshan Road, points out the principles that shouldbe followed in its renewal, and puts forward the strategy and means for reviving the historicdistrict.The final result of the research is: after the study and research on the revival of thehistoric district of Zhongshan Road in Qingdao City, the reasons for its decline have beenfound out and the practical means for its revival has been put forward. The author points outthat for the revival of a time-honored district of a city, there is no universal methodology. Itcan not be achieved until the intricate problems with it in respect of consumption capacity,industry structure, traffic condition, policy means and social development are solved.
