With the development of society and continuous expansion of city, in the urban area, the contradiction of new buildings and old buildings rooted in history has become more and more prominent. The urban historic district and buildings, as the materialized carrier of the social and economic, technology and art, life and tradition in the stage of development of city history, is the main factors of the formation of the characteristics of the historical and cultural city. It has been an issue of concern about how to protect historic districts. At present, there are in-depth foreign researches in this area, while our domestic researches are still in its infancy and in need of improvement. In 1994, Qingdao was selected as a National Historical and Cultural City, a rare thing for a century-old city. Endowed with unique and profound cultural connotation, Qingdao has developed under special historical background, going through the German occupation, the first Japanese occupation, the rule of the Beiyang Government and Nationalist Government as well as the second Japanese occupation. With unique cultural features, Qingdao is the epitome of the unrest and development of China in modern society.Since it was built during the German occupation, Zhongshan Street has undergone vicissitudes. Boasting a hundred years of history, it is one of the earliest commercial streets in Qingdao, where exotic culture and local culture have mutually integrated, forming its own distinct style. Moreover, it is an epitome of development that architecture types and styles in Qingdao are fully embodied and European architectures and courtyard buildings here coexist in harmony. After rapid economic development in 1980 s, there emerged high-rise buildings and large buildings in Zhongshan Road. However, the historic scene of the district was severely damaged. What’s more, the economic center of Qingdao began moving eastward in 1990 s, undermining the commercial status of Zhongshan Road, but preserving the historic buildings, which have made up our memories of the city. That is why it is in the most urgent and critical stage to protect these buildings.Among the historical buildings, except for the cultural heritage conservation IV departments, the basis of the most general historical buildings which can be reserved is that they possess the suitable use of function. The protection and repair of this kind of buildings can be divided into the reform of the inside of the buildings and the protection and design of repair of the elevation of buildings. The inside of the buildings, in order to adapt to the new functions, can be reformed with the new technology on the basis of not damage the main body of the building. And for the surface of the historical buildings, we should reserve and recover them as much as possible to preserve their historical style. This paper is composed of five chapters, concerning on the protection and repair of historic building in Zhongshan Road of Qingdao, includes five chapters:Chapter one is the introduction, introducing the primary coverage, presenting the basis and methods of the research, and illustrating the purpose and meaning of research.Within the integration of representative theories at home and abroad, chapter two illustrates the concepts of historic buildings, analyzes and summarizes the successful examples of the protection and renovation of historic districts both in China and abroad, serving as the theoretical basis and experience reference for the protection and renovation of historic districts in Zhongshan Road.Chapter three makes a brief introduction to the evolution of Qingdao and the development process of the Zhongshan Road in different historic stages. By virtue of the site survey of buildings in the historic district in Zhongshan Road and access to relevant historical materials, this paper summarizes and concludes the evolution of architectures in Zhongshan Road, and sorts out the ages, structures, style features, etc. of existing buildings, in the hope of providing historical materials for the protection and repair of buildings in Zhongshan Road.On the basis of the valuation, which is obtained by the investigation and analysis of historic buildings in Zhongshan Road in the previous chapters, chapter four attempts to figure out the regional value of Zhongshan Road, sum up the existing problems in status quo of buildings and put forward the protection and repair principles.Chapter five explores the methods of protection and renovation based on previous chapters, and describes the protection and repair models of historic buildings. Combining with the protection and repair the historic buildings, I designed the subject and illustrate the measures of designing the protection and repair of the historic buildings.Furthermore, protection methods are proposed for every part of buildings and representative buildings are selected respectively to receive renovation or revamping suggestions are given to these buildings. Lastly, this paper tries to offer some advice and exemplify about how to better integrate the existing large buildings and high-rise buildings into the historic districts. |
