Research On Preservation And Utilization Of Xiamen Zhongshan Road Historic District Based On Sustainable Development Theory

At present,with the rapid social and economic development of China,the speed of urban construction and regeneration of Chinese cities is accelerating gradually.In this process,the problem of historical area conservation,which influence on the urban sustainable development,should be solved to meet both historical traits conservation and modern social life requirement.This research selecting Xiamen Zhongshan Road Historical District and its adjacent area as the research subjects,selecting the architecture style,the spatial relations,and the distribution of business type of the district as the main arguments.Then the further proposes constructive strategies and suggestions are suggested after the utilization of related theories,technologies and research methods.At the beginning,according to the field research of the typical streets and buildings present conservation situation,the factors which influenced on the historical district sustainable development,for example,dilapidated buildings,disorderly construction,and uncoordinated block are introduced and analyzed.Next,The highly correlation between business diversification and spatial structure of the district can be concluded by using Space Syntax via analyzing the connection between various streets in the district,and the connection between spatial structure of the district and distribution of business type.Lastly,for the purpose of improving the historical district developing sustainability,the author suggests four principles(balance of protection and development,historical cultural continuity,sustainable development,and public participation)that the historical district conservation should be applied.Also,the optimize strategy of architecture and street style conservation on the micro level,the optimize strategy of street space and visual space on the meso level,and the optimize strategy of public management system and traffic management of adjacent urban area on the macro level are proposed.This research has significance of guiding the historical district conservation.Besides,the findings of this research can be applied by further sustainable conservation of Xiamen Zhongshan Road Historical District.
