Study On Renovation Of Existing Residential Buildings’ Appearance Along Shanghailu Street In Nanjing

Sixty percents of the buildings on both sides of Shanghailu Street in Nanjing areresidential buildings. The appearance of residential buildings greatly affect the streetlandscape. The Youth Olympic Games is coming soon, we need A good city’s image toface the world. The renovation of residential buildings’ appearance has been on theagenda. Most of the theoretical researches and practices focus on the buildings whichhave historical and cultural value, the theories of renovation of ubiquitous residentialbuildings are sparse and scattered, and they haven’t formed a system.Based on the above-mentioned backgrounds, this study analyzes the related theoriesand practices of renovation of residential buildings’ appearance, analyzes the problems ofresidential buildings’ appearance along Shanghailu street and finds out the reasons, putsforward the methods and specific measures about the renovation of residential buildings’appearance in order to provide references to the environment’s promotion of the street inNanjing and other related practices.First of all, the thesis elaborates the backgrounds and purposes and significances ofthe study, clearly defines the core concepts, illustrates the technical line and researchmethods. Secondly, the thesis combs the related theories and practices in China andforeign country. Again, the thesis analyzes the relationship between the appearance ofresidential buildings along the street and street landscape, puts forward the necessity andprinciples of the renovation of residential buildings’ appearance, summarizes thecomposition of the residential buildings’ appearance along the street. Multiple times, thethesis analyzes the present situation of the residential buildings’ appearance and found it’sproblems: buildings’, facilities’ and tags’, puts forward the methods and specificmeasures of the renovation about various elements. Finally, this paper summarizesconclusions of the research, and points out the shortcomings and contribution of research, proposes the prospects for the future research.
