The construction of nuclear power plant project is a huge system engineering. Huge investment and complicated interface management are needed for construction of nuclear power plant with a longer construction period than any other common power station. During the construction, the complexity and the difficulty of the construction management for nuclear power project management is more obvious than other general projects. The construction cost is the main cost of the nuclear power plant and the electricity generation ahead of schedule is significant to the Owner’s profit; therefore, during the project management, the management for the project schedule is the core of management for the whole nuclear power plant engineering, and it will impact the earnings of the whole project significantly and directly. The third generation nuclear power technique AP1000 occupies the pioneering advantages in the world; for instance, it adopts the passive-driven design philosophy and modular construction method, which is safer and more efficient compared with EPR adopted abroad; therefore, it wins out during the international bidding. AP1000 becomes the main orientation in China’s nuclear power development. Therefore, it has a certain research significance to conduct effective schedule control and management for AP1000 nuclear power construction as per the objective economic law.Studied on the method of literature research and survey on the site, starting from the nuclear power project schedule management, in this paper, it introduces AP1000 nuclear power project management and schedule management features. Based on research on schedule management survey and study, by using the method of investigation and empirical research, this paper analyzes the shortcomings of the schedule management, proposed method of the schedule optimization and the progress control optimization in Haiyang AP1000 nuclear power plant construction schedule. Finally, it analyzes the factors affecting the project progress with the combination of the characteristics of a Haiyang nuclear power project, and put forward some supporting measures to control the project schedule.After the research in this text, it can be known that the level Ⅵ schedule management system is adopted in Haiyang AP1000 Nuclear Power Plant progress management, the planned construction period of the single unit is 71 months and it has reached the advanced Nuclear Power Plant construction level in the world. However, since many units and interface relations are involved during AP1000 Nuclear Power Plant construction, there are many factors impacting the progress control and management and the most important aspects restricting the project progress are management, design, procurement, quality. To effectively control AP1000 Nuclear Power Plant project construction progress, this text analyzes the factors which may impact the project progress in the design, procurement, and construction stage during Nuclear Power Plant construction and proposes the corresponding risk prevention measures, and proposes the idea of progress control based on the related platform WBS according to the development status of the current progress control informationalization.Because of project construction through project completed and put into operation to pay money to recycle and appreciation. And to make the value maximize, requires that the entire project construction process has a good schedule control method. Through the study of this article is intended to AP1000 nuclear power project in our country in the future developing environment, make it more efficient construction progress control, realizes the nuclear power construction costs down further.
