People-oriented has been the standard of design research worldwide for ages. As one of the most universal subject that has been applied to design, Visual Communication Design should pay more attention to humanistic concern. Hence, this paper goes with the trend of times, proposing a brand new design mode-Soft Design. Conception exactly caters to modern people’s psychology, calls for more concern about human emotion, more flexible and thoughtful, bringing relief to emotion of people. It also reflects societal responsibility. Assorted colors and abundant textures bring people more emotional experience and human interest, making people enjoy themselves while being surrounded by the scientific and technological materials and reinforced concrete.Firstly it starts with the Chinese and English definition of the word Soft, easy to comprehensive, global understanding "soft" meaning of the word, which made having inner and outer experience two senses of the Soft Design philosophy. Accordingly elaborating Soft Design better and being compared with Emotionalism Design, Interaction Design, Slow Design and Barrier-free Design, which are prevalently in the world. Summing up the distinctions and similarities between them to understand and define Soft Design correctly. Discussion of the development status of the product packaging design, and found the problems and shortcomings of everyday after the turn from the design properties, aesthetic attributes and cultural attributes to illustrate three aspects of Soft Design applied to product packaging design necessity. For example:focus packaging demand in modern society, modern society consumer aesthetic emotion, balance the needs of human psychology, design and cultural interaction and other practical issues are fully confirms the Soft Design can be applied to product packaging design go and play a good role. Exploring study Soft Design in product packaging design with product packaging elements is how single and comprehensive reflection of the soft feel in shape, color, smell, sound, touch, feel, and with the current existing famous case are summarized, and explore how the designer to control material, structure, colors, graphics, give the audience the feeling of experience, and thus draw some safe and convenient, soft and comfortable, warm the hearts of packaging design experience. Finally, the text of a summary term to describe Soft Design’s development will bring the era of mechanization soft, warm feeling, with good prospects for development.In general, the paper proposes a new conception and approach in design by researching Soft Design, making the design project pay more attention to people’s inner feeling and be used in the service preferably. When people experience design products for a living while enjoying the convenience brought the design to bring to life the warmth, so as to realize the service of humanity. In the meantime, it provides some references to other design fields. As mentioned above, it tells people that design is not just something satisfies the user requirement and visual experience, but also takes care of their hearts.
