Service Design Research Of Community Garden In Urbanization

Urbanization greatly promotes the development of the city, but also causes a certaindegree of social problems, including interpersonal alienation, weakening community identityand engaged, growing environmental pollution, damaging natural ecology, food safety issuescaused by the change of food network composition, etc. Facing these various problems andchallenges, people begin to pay close attention to their living environment, think about theself-actualization, and explore the autonomous solutions. Social innovation activities arise atthis historic moment, such as community garden, one of the innovative urban agricultureservices.Community garden involves the whole city and residents, which has benefits for theexpansion of social networks and the sustainable development of economy and environment.At the same time, community garden can significantly improve the urban environment andlife quality of the residents. Due to the differences of cultural background, the domestic andforeign community garden services present different forms and characteristics. In China, inorder to rooting the community garden activity in public life, satisfying people’s needsthrough community garden service, and enhancing urban network viscosity and group identity,we need to establish an effective, feasible and replicable community garden service throughdesign interventions.In this thesis, starting from social needs and value orientation on the background ofurbanization, the current situation of community garden and the manner of design interventionhave been interpreted, author collects the typical existing community garden cases, comparesand analyzes the differences between the domestic and foreign community garden services.Secondly, the problems and opportunities of Chinese community garden service developmentin urbanization have been analyzed, which based on field research of service case and urbanresidential communities. Third, author points out the development possibilities of Chinesecommunity garden service with mobile social network and puts forward the collaborativeservice orientation. Through the analysis of the related collaborative service cases combiningwith the results of previous field research, author sums up the mobile collaborative servicedesign principles and mobile collaborative community garden service strategies. Finally, Aftercreating personas and different service scenarios, author builds the service prototype by usingdifferent service design tools, and designs the mobile social platform of the collaborativecommunity garden services.
