In view of the specialty and particularity of power grid enterprises, distribution networkspare parts not only require to meet the equipment maintenance needs, but also need to reducethe backlog of inventory and stock funds, in order to ensure the safety and economy of powerproduction and achieve high efficient operation of power grid enterprises. Therefore, areasonable inventory demand forecasting model and a scientific inventory managementstrategy, as well as an inventory quota algorithm are very necessary to improve the spare partsmanagement. In this background, this paper regards G Power Supply Bureau as the researchobject, and studies on its distribution network spare parts demand forecast, managementstrategy and inventory quota specifically.Firstly, through practical investigation and other means to collect the spare partsinventory management status information of G Power Supply Bureau, the paper make areview and analyze on the date to find the current problems. Some problems from the currentinventory management are summed up, including blind material procurement plan,unreasonable material classification, unscientific inventory quota, material storage record hasflaws and inventory management model is too traditional etc.Next, through making a study on inventory demand forecasting theory and thecharacteristics of distribution network spare parts, the paper presents a demand forecastingalgorithm which is applying to distribution network spare parts on the basis of SVM (SupportVector Machine). This algorithm considers4factors that have an effect on material demand,they are material historical demand data, maintenance plan, the failure rate of the equipmentand the operating environment. Here the Pole-mounted Circuit Breaker is taken as an exampleto verify the reasonable and feasible of the demand forecasting algorithm.Then, the paper puts forward an AB Category Inventory Management and a suitableinventory quota algorithm for distribution network. The distribution network spare parts of GPower Supply Bureau are divided into two categories A, B (including B1and B2), and theappropriate inventory control management models are determined for the two categories spareparts. Based on the material demand forecast result, the paper builds the inventory quotaalgorithm for A, B spare parts under their inventory management models respectively, and adds an example to verify the practical applications of the inventory quota algorithm in thisarea. Lastly, in order to solve the defects in physical inventory management, this paperintroduces the virtual inventory management strategy for G Power Supply Bureau, and offersspecific application suggestions of virtual inventory management strategy.According to the calculation results, the proposed forecasting algorithm of inventorydemand and the inventory quota algorithm can effectively solve the problems of the existinginventory management in G Power Supply Bureau, and have a great project applicationvalue for inventory management of distribution network spare parts.
