Food is the most important thing in life. A variety of food provides people with energy and nutrition necessary to all life activities. In the "food" category, food safety is in the first row. Safe food is the guarantee of health. Food safety is of great importance to all of us.Nowadays, food safety is becoming the focus of society and the food safety incidents are testing the government’s ruling ability and credibility. With the continuous development of China’s foreign trade and the improvement of people’s living standards, imported food proportion is also increasing in China’s foreign trade. And the outbreak of imported food safety incidents in2013causes Chinese consumers to reconsider the safety of imported food.Shenzhen, as one of the main ports of food import in China, in recent years, is increasing its import value, batch and species of imported food by maintaining a good momentum. The increase in numbers and types of imported food enriches consumption choice of Chinese consumers. However, it also brings challenges to the food safety supervision. Shenzhen Entry-Exit Bureau of Inspection and Quarantine conducts imported food supervision in accordance with the "food safety law","animal and plant epidemic prevention law","import and Export Commodity Inspection Law""the frontier health law" and the relevant implementing regulations.American food safety system, as one of the most perfect food safety systems in the world, provides a good reference for China’s imported food safety supervision. The American supervision style can be a good model for Chinese supervision authority to improve the efficiency of supervision of imported food because of its perfect laws and regulations, communication and cooperation of divisions and risk management. Especially, the "Food Safety Modernization Act" which is considered as the biggest reform in food safety in the US in last70years can broaden the vision of Chinese supervisors, which means the Chinese supervisors may emphasis more on risk assessment and early warning, preventing diseases and reducing food safety incidents. In the future reform process, China’s regulators should put efforts on improving food safety information transparency, reconstructing food safety credit system by emphasizing enterprises as the leading part, adhering the exporter recognition and actual consignee qualification as premise, speeding up the procedure of legislation, standard formulation and modification, implementing the inspection in accordance of law, emphasizing on risk management as the main supervision means, strengthening coordination of divisions and food retrospective recall, encouraging consumers to safeguard consumer rights in all aspects, thus strengthening the management of imported food in China and safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of consumers.
