Manufacturing is the pillar industry of the national economic. The degree of themanufacturing development depends on the economic efficiency of a manufacturingenterprise. With its development and the unity of the national market, their productionenvironment and the profit condition is getting changed.As part of the supply chain in a manufacturing enterprise, purchasing department playsan important role to guarantee the production continuity which is not replaceable.According to the US Advanced Manufacturing Research, purchasing cost has a bigweight among the total production cost. In US, the purchasing cost in a big automanufacturer, their cost of purchasing parts reached to50%of its total sales venue. Andup to80%in a technical oriented manufacturer who provides service and products.During the purchasing process, the selection of supplier is a key. And its processreengineering must be included in the process reengineering of the whole operationprocess.This thesis takes one enterprise as an example, introduced from the central idea to itsprinciple and methodology etc. Analyzed the requirements of supplier selection under asupply chain environment. Pointed out their existing problems and proposed for processreengineering when selecting a supplier in order to better satisfy the changing marketneeds.
