Space remote sensing technology has become one of the key technologies in thefield of aerospace. Stratospheric airship for its arbitrary hover, height over air trafficcontrol range, not affected by the weather and can be provided by solar energy powersource has been widely used in the field of space remote sensing image and haveimportant significance for the land resources monitoring, marine monitoring,environmental protection, disaster prevention and water monitoring.With the gradual application of high resolution remote sensing optical equipment,space remote sensing image in the airship data volumes grow day by day, so remotesensing image image in the airship must be efficient compressed to adapt to thememory and the transmission bandwidth. Image compression schemes usually havethe Implementation Based on FPGA and Implementation Based on DSP. The former isof complexity in algorithm and the latter is low efficiency. With the dedicated imagecompression chip arises, using FPGA and dedicated image compression chip is amoderate degree of difficulty scheme and is easy to implement. This thesis is based onthe a research project of a company which designs and implements a solution of thesystem which uses FPGA with JPEG2000algorithm ASIC chip (ADV212).Thisscheme can meet the actual project requirements very well with the image test andresults analysis.This thesis first introduces the image compression technology and thedevelopment of domestic and international technical condition, focusing onJPEG2000image compression system.It indicates that JPGE2000standard is of highreliability.On this basis, this thesis designs and implements image compression systembased on JPEG2000standard. Secondly, the external interface of FPGA and internallogic function modules of FPGA is provided in detailed, including the implementationprocess of data payload processing, compression and transmission module andperipheral interface treatment etc. Finally, the test results verify the validity andcorrectness of the system to meet the needs of the project.
