| With the rapid development of remote sensing technology, the remote sensing data closely with people’s life acquired by remote sensors are very precious. But the limited channel bandwidth can’t meet the transmission requirements of massive remote sensing image data. So it is significant for space applications to study the remote sensing data compression technology.The issue comes from the project863of a space technology company, it wants to establish a demonstration system of payload data processing. Image compression unit of the data processor prototype is the paper’s point. The paper uses JPEG2000compression standard and put forward the program of "FPGA and ADV212which is the specific chip of JPEG2000".This paper studies the whole design of image compression system and focus on the logic design of every module and VHDL’s implementation. The logic design primarily implement the functions such as interface communication, logic control, payload data processing and so on; This paper also studies how its embedded PowerPC works for initial configuration of ADV212. This method of hardware and software working together improves the system’s flexibility and adapt to different design requirements. Finally, the paper gives the result of image compression system and analysis the compression performance according to the current evaluation criteria. This system can achieve kinds of data in real-time processing and meet the engineering requirements of image compression system. |
