The development of image processing system is gradually towards to the intelligent, HD and network direction. However, the large amounts of the data leads that the processing speed is difficult to meet the design requirements of the system. ASIC shorted by the application of specific integrated circuit is the chip design method to implement specific function and algorithm based on hardware acceleration. The advantages are high performance, low power consumption, easy to control and so on when compared with the software implementation method. With the rapid development of ASIC design technology and application demands continuous maturity, more and more application algorithms, especially in the field of video processing that is very sensitive to the performance requirements, should use the ASIC design method to increase the processing speed.According to the structure composition to do function division, HD video processing system consists of six main modules:video capture module, video adjustment module, system control module, de-blocking filter module, DMA controller mode and synchronous and asynchronous display of HD video module. The system implementation considers the system control scheme, optimization algorithm design, system internal data storage scheme, the system transmission bus design, external interface such as video capture and display design and so on. Through the flexible modification and control of registers on the design, we realize the simulation of the HD video processing ASIC circuit and complete the verification process of related video processing function.HD video processing unit that the paper studies and designs can realize the video processing algorithm such as real-time sampling, image scaling, image rotation, image color space conversion, de-blocking filter, synchronous and asynchronous display. The design can provide a good HD video acceleration processing function for complex embedded system chip with video processing function by assisting the H.264, HEVC, MPEG4and other video standard codec processing. The design has a more important research and practical value significance.
