Communication power supply system has been widely used in our society. It can provide reliable48V power for communication device and electronic equipment. There are four common supply system in power industry:DC Power Supply, Communication Power Supply, AC Power Supply and Inverter Power Supply. Especially, Communication power supply is very important for the improvement of QoS of power supply. If communication power supply failure,48V output will lost, that will make the enterprise losses or lead to accidents in some key firms. In recent years, Smart Grid arises in electric power industry. Smart substation start to replace conventional substation system. So, all communication power supply must conform to the IEC61850standard Smart Grid. Otherwise, it can’t be connected to master station or SCAD A, and should not be supervised by master station. From above all, developing a safe, reliable, easy using and low cost of communication power supply system based on IEC61850is very meaningful for electrical power industry.There are many communication power supply system production in the market, but each of them has some deficiencies from research perspective. Such as:lower performance of system centralized monitoring device extension, bad human-computer interaction experience, lower battery capacity, lack of hot standby power supply system, inconformity with IEC61850standard, imperfection of battery charging logic, etc. Therefore, we think that researching and developing a communication power supply system without faults above is a very meaningful work for power industry.In our research, we do much work on some main issues as follows. First, we give a lower-cost solution for centralized monitoring device of power supply system, and design a reasonable input and output terminal for it. Because this system must run in hard industrial environment, such as substation, we must do elaborately design to get the balance between performance and cost, and make the platform according to certain industry standards. Second, we try to get more scalability for the system. On the view of hardware, all interface port are designed on centralized monitoring device, including serial port232and485, ether net, CAN communication port, input and output port, USB port, etc. On the view of software, we use object oriented idea, make abstraction on communication specifications, system APIs, UIs and so on, reduce the system coupling and easy to do system upgrade. Third, we design a set of communication services, including IEC61850services. The communication power supply system is mainly development for electric power system, so it must support several common communication specifications, such as103, Mod-Bus and CDT. In order to support the application of intelligent substation, the system also provides services conforms to61850Spec. Fourth, we develop a friendly human-computer interface on the small LCD panel. Finally, we optimize the system of battery charging curve combining with our experience in storage battery.Within the system development process, we strictly carry out the system requirement analysis, preliminary design, detailed design, implementation and testing. We also give complete design documents too and get a production meeting the requirements of function design.
