Research And Implementation Of Engineering Change Management In Product Data Management System

By means of computer software, product data management helps enterprises toimprove production process, to organize structure of product, and providing,efficientand safe management of electronic data, it also integrated a variety of controls requiredby enterprises, coordinated the entire life cycle of the product, therefore helpsenterprises to enhance the productivity and competitiveness in the market quickly,shorten the development cycle effectively and reduce production costs while ensuringproduct quality and optimizing the design.PDM system manages all data and processes associated with product design,however, with the expansion of business scale, the growing the number of productsand business types, the processes of the enterprise business is also becoming morecomplex and careful, production and management way are facing restructuring andprocess reengineering to adapt to the changing market demands. Along withengineering change occurs, it is difficult to control the engineering changes and changeback effectively. Not timely information releasing resulted in inconsistent data of theproduction before and after which affects the quality of products. Therefore,engineering change management system based on product data management systemcame into being. The effective use of product data management system underlyingservices and product data management system makes implementation of engineeringchange management on personnel organization, data changes and process changes.Engineering change management research was linked to concern the majority ofresearch scholars.This subject comes from my echelon’s project "Research and Development of theProduct Data Management which has the Collaborative Function for Small andMedium Sized Auto Parts Manufacturing", which is based on the actual businessneeds of small and medium sized auto parts manufacturing companies, the authormainly engaged in the research and implementation of change management based onthis product data management system. Firstly, the paper analyzes the demand forengineering change management system of the manufacturing. Secondly, it extends theworkflow engine which supports process and data change management. Then, theapplication and evaluation of the engineering change is implemented, and thedetermination and implementation of the process changes and data changes is implemented, too. In the end, on the product data management (PDM) system based onthe optimization of the workflow engine, we effectively controlled the engineeringchange application, assessment and the implementation, improved the transferefficiency of engineering change between departments, narrowed the influence scopeof the change, and hence ensure the retained of the data version and the consistency ofthe associated data.
