Dual-interface card is currently the most technically advanced IC card which has a touchinterface and non-contact interface. Though contact-type IC card is easy to wear, subject toenvironmental restrictions, slow trading and other disadvantages, these shortcomings restrictthe application of contact-type IC card to a large extent. Non-contact IC card makes up for thelack of contact-type IC card, but its storage capacity, security, and other issues are also flawedand can not meet certain requirements. Consequently, in the multi-application card operationsystem, some applications are for contact-type IC cards, while some applications are forcontactless IC card. Based on these needs, dual-interface cards come out. Dual-interface cardsare widely used today, which have appeared on the market with more convenient services, forexample, markets, early meals, bus, subway, parking, cinema, small businesses are beginningto use petty sum payment business. Banks are also more associated with petty sum paymentbusiness. Research on dual-interface for petty sum payment module becomes necessary. The research goal is to develop a module with dual-interface for micro-payment; it canread different types of cards to complete petty sum payment functions. This module has theability of reading and writing contact-type IC card and contactless IC card, completing thetransaction data via the serial port terminal to upload data to PC or other management. Inpractice, the author focuses on the design and development of contact-type IC card paymentmodule and RFID micro-payment module. This paper introduces the knowledge of IC card followed by a system overview, including requirements analysis, system overview, and difficulties in design. Then it focuseson the hardware design and software design of dual-interface micro-payment module.Hardware design includes hardware system, the chip selection of major functional modulesand circuit design of the core module. Design of software highlights driven design of thecontact-type IC card module and RFID micro-payment module. Finally it introduces the testabout dual-interface micro-payment module, sums up the whole thesis, and points out thestrengths and weaknesses of system design.
