From the beginning of the21st century, Chinese economy has entered a new era. People’s requirements of spiritual enjoyment have gradually increased, especially with the gradual rise of the middle class who has exhibit a strong demand to the elite culture. At this point, our periodicals are flourishing everywhere, especially under the influence of "Times", a number of high-quality weekly news have good performance,and gradually have their own stable readership."Vista"that was founded in2005takes only a few years to become a dark horse. It has reached a monthly circulation of600,000or more, which is a legend in the publishing industry. Just like other weekly news,"Vista" always attach the most attention to the "editorial"cover story and try to make it a flagship program.Therefore, this article will choose "Vista" as an example and try to take it as a window to explore the weekly news successful experiences and shortcomings.The article can be divided into four parts:The first part shows the research origins and significance. It also gives a brief literautre review.The second part gives a definition of "cover story" and its features and functions. It also overviews the development and the current situation of "Vista". The third part conducts a sample analysis of cover story of "Vista" in2010-2013from its numbers, story themes and narrative style. The fourth part, based on the foregoing analysis of the content of the "Vista" cover story, gives some targeted recommendations including:content development of cover story, manifestations construction, specialty construction and brand buildingin.
