With the rapid development of China’s railway network, railway operating mileage has been increased year by year, and what’s more the train’s running speed and density continue to increase, the number of cars in the field of highway traffic also increases year by year, part of unmanned railway crossing safety protective equipment is relatively backward there is a certain degree of risk, all of these factors bring security risks to unmanned railway crossing. Every year a certain amount of traffic accidents occur in the unmanned crossing, resulting in large economic losses and casualties. Therefore, it is meaningful to design and develop a practical monitoring system of unmanned crossing.In order to achieve real-time monitoring and reliable controlling of the unmanned railway crossing, the system integrates sensor technology, modern communication technology and computer technology. The system is consisted of three parts, they are train approaching information collection node, the crossing console and the PC monitoring software, the information collection node’s function is to collect the information that the train’s arrival and departure of the crossing, four pairs of infrared sensor are respectively installed at about one kilometers from the crossing on both sides, showing a cross mounted on both sides of the rail within the safe distance specified, in order to receive the information that the infrared is blocked by the train, the four sensor’s receivers are two high and two low, this method can not only judge the information such as the direction and speed of the train, but also can be used to determine the interference information, after the collected data is processed by the single chip microcomputer, CAN bus is used to transmit the information that whether the train is approaching the crossing from the collection node to the crossing console. The crossing console receive the information that come from the collection node, if the information is the train’s approaching, then the crossing fence will be fallen down to prevent the pedestrians and vehicles passing the crossing, and by the way of lighting the signal to be red and voice broadcast to remind the pedestrians and vehicles to pay attention to safety; if the information is the train’s departure, then the fence will be risen up, and the green signal will be lighten to remind the pedestrians and vehicles that the crossing is safe and you can be assured to pass the crossing; at the same time, the information will be upload to the monitoring center by the way of GPRS wireless communication. The monitoring center can store the received information of the crossing, and the crossing state can be displayed real-time, generate various types of required reports, the personnel can immediately be sent to the scene to repair when the system’s equipment is broken. In order to improve the reliability of information transmission and the anti-interference ability of the system, the photoelectric isolation circuit and the power supply isolation circuit are designed on the circuit boards of the crossing console and the train approaching information collection node; and the special structure of installation of the information collection infrared can improve the recognition rate of the train approaching, then meet the effect of safety and protection of the unmanned railway crossing.The system can provide the train’s arrival and departure information of the crossing to the pedestrians and vehicles that are passing the unmanned crossing, and the security situation of the unmanned railway crossing can be improved to some extent; multi unmanned crossing can be real-time monitored, to achieve the purpose of equipment maintenance in time and convenient maintenance; what’s more, provide a certain reference value for perfecting and improving the monitoring and protection system of the unmanned railway crossing.
