Infrared environment refers to infrared radiance environment with various targets in battleground, including solar radiation,targets'radiation,and background radiation. As far as Infrared System is concerned, it's performance is mainly determined by targets'infrared radiation characteristic,ambient complex environment's infrared radiation characteristic and the infrared radiation contrast between them. Meanwhile these factors are also influenced by geography location,weather condition,season and the time of a day. Using computer to simulate infrared weapon system has the superiority of convenience,safety,lower cost ect, and is used in system design,system analysis,training,testing and evaluation. This aspect makes great meaning and serves important function in production and scientific research.This thesis has studied the outlines of worldwide research status and the theoretic knowledge of infrared radiation and infrared system. And it makes an analysis on all factors of the atmospheric environment that influence the transmission of infrared radiation in detail. it takes horizontally varying atmospheric property into consideration. Then the 3D model of atmospheric transmission of infrared radiation is established based on MODTRAN4. Moreover, the method of calculating the ratio of atmospheric transmission, path radiation and single scatter solar radiation is presented. In addition, This thesis explores the key issues about the synthesis of infrared images of targets and backgrounds, and it expatiates on design of the external rendering. various approaches of segmentation and aggregation of scene objects in several typical cases is introduced. Finally, this thesis presents the algorithm of imaging synthesis process in the external rendering. This thesis focuses on imaging synthesis process, as well as the propagation effect of target and background's infrared radiation through atmosphere. According to the requirement of infrared simulation system, We have improved on the mechanism of computation and management for radiative signal in the infrared module of JMASE. As a result, We have enhanced the reliability and fidelity of infrared imaging simulation in JMASE and facilitated users'development in infrared simulation. We also developed a tool to image simulated infrared scene. This thesis illustrates the method of how to develop models in infrared environment simulation system through an example and validates the external rendering through analyzing the result of simulation.
