Crossing the border illegally is becoming more frequent because of the global economic imbalance,the increasing gap between the rich and the poor,the political instability in some countries,more and more regional conflicts and wars.Currently there are some high-tech against the phenomenon--- "Virtual Wall","Truck Scanners","Sarbon Dioxide Detectors","Iris Recognition Technology","Electronic Fence","The Detector of False Certificates" etc.But they all have different degrees of limitations.The emergence of wireless sensor networks(WSN)provides a new way to fight against illegal border crossings.WSN(Wireless Sensor Network)is constituted of lots of wireless sensor nodes which construct a multi-hop and self-organizing network through wireless communication based on router protocol,and its purpose is to apperceive,gather and process the information of perceived objects(such as light intensity,temperature,humidity,noise,harmful gas concentrations,the existence and location of human and other physical phenomena)within the area of detection coverage,and then send them to the monitoring center.The paper proposes a new way based on WSN to design a detector of crossing the border illegally. The nodes of human detector with infrared sensor are scattered over the area which is unsuitable for residence.The nodes,used as "electronic eye",can find the intruders as soon as they appear,and send information to the monitors through the wireless network.The monitors can determine if there are intruders or not,and the location of them by the information from WSN.Yunnan Province is located in China's border,and has a long border line,so it is significant to design a monitoring system based on wireless sensor network for the detection of illegal border crossing.The system is fully functional and economical,so it's easy to be popularized.The design of the system involves various kinds of technologies.The research of this thesis aims to several key technologies such as the design sensor node,the choice and improvement of routing protocol.The software and hardware of node design,including the choice of components,circuit boards rendering,the debugging and testing of hardware and software,are given in detail.DSR(Dynamic Source Routing)is chosen.The improvement of DSR is for the sake of energy balance which is the key requirement of WSN.Energy model is added to DSR,logical improvements are made,the simulation is finished by using OPNET as software,and finally the simulation results is described and analyzed.
