With the rapid development of optical communication and optical fiber sensing industry, many new types of optical fiber have emerged. Using new type of optical fiber greatly have reduced the beam energy loss in the transmission process and improved the transmission efficiency, which also bring new vigor and vitality into the optical communication field. However, it is inevitable to coordinate the new type of optical fiber and traditional single mode optical fiber in the process of application. Moreover, the coupling quality directly depends on the size of the fusing loss. Thus, it is an urgent issue to solve that reducing fusing loss between the new type of optical fiber and traditional ordinary single mode optical fiber.This article aims on how to reduce the fusing loss in the process of optical fiber fusion. We achieved the mode field matching about fusion fiber and analyzed to confirm the optimal parameters of different fusion machine through controlling the fusion parameters. At the same time, in view of the quality control points of the production process about large-scale industrialization optical fiber devices, we developed a data acquisition system of fusion machine based on the requirements of acquisition and recording about the parameters of optical fiber fusion process and product test data.The main research contents in this article are as followed:1. Investigated and surveyed the research status of the low loss fusion technique about single mode fiber and different mode field diameter at home and abroad.2. Introducing the related theory of single mode optical fiber fusing loss and measurement methods about optical fiber fusing loss at the fusion point. Analyzing the main factors caused the optical fiber fusing loss and described the methods of reducing fusing loss.3. Introducing the methods about increasing fiber mode field diameter. Based on the basic principle of heating expansion core technology and the analysis of theoretical model, we carried on the experimental study and numerical analysis about HI1060optical fiber and general single mode optical fiber and realized the optical fiber low fusing loss with different mode fiber diameter through adopting the technology of discharge heating expansion core of fusion machine.4. According to the LabWindows/CVI integrated development environment and C language development, we wrote the quality process control system software about the mass industrial fiber devices. Realized the functions about the upper machine process control, fusion machine data acquisition, related data electronic report generation and fiber devices database storage access and so on.
