With the rapid development of communication technology, the communication network has been developing from first generation(1G) to the fourth generation(4G). In4G times, optical signal runs faster, frequency spectrum becomes broader, communication network gets more flexible, more intelligent, more smooth, all that requires a reliable transmission pipeline, a more stable, lower loss,higher transmission efficiency network. Because optical transmission equipment with conventional attenuation can not be changed, then reduce the fiber splicing loss becomes the primary way to improve fiber network transmission efficiency. Reseach on decreasing fiber splicing loss, improve the quality of optical fiber fusion method to promote the development of communication technology becomes more and more important.This paper mainly discusses the main factors affecting the fiber splicing loss, theoretical analysis and experimental research proved that the mode field diameter difference has direct influence on the optical fiber splicing loss, then according to the experimental results of optical fiber fusion improvement measures providing a reference for engineering construction, in order to reduce the average fused fiber optic cable connecting loss.The effect of fiber splicing loss of intrinsic and non intrinsic factors are discussed first, focusing on the influence of optical fiber mode field diameter difference of optical fiber fusion splicing loss, and by choosing the mode of fiber diameter of three groups of different welding experiment,the experimental value were compared with the theoretical value, prove that the bigger the difference of mode field diameter, the greater optical fiber splicing loss is. Then blended melting the fiber on foreign first fiber manufacturing company Corelle and the first optical fiber manufacturer Changfei company, through a large number of welding experiments, two brands of optical fiber self melting and mixing melting loss value is not very different,thus determining two kinds of fiber can be mixed. Finally, in accordance with the experimental conclusion, the paper sums up the improvement of the welding process and methods for reducing splice loss.The experimental data and the research results of this paper, provides the reference and the theory basis for the fusion operators to improve their technology. As for operators to reduce fiber optic cable link splicing loss and improves the optical signal transmission efficiency, it plays a positive role, so that providing a better quality transmission channel and the transmission network for the fourth generation communication network(4G) becomes possible.
