Design And Implementation Of IPv6 Transition Program Based On IVI Translation Technology And Application Layer Tunnel

This paper analyzed the purpose of emergence of IPv6 and the advantages of IPv6 compared with IPv4 under the background of depletion of IPv4 address. Meanwhile, the paper stated some knowledges about IPv6 transition including the basic principle of IPv6 transiton, the major IPv6 transiton technologies and the current situation of IPv6 transition. On this basis, this paper researched and analyzed application layer tunnel technology and IVI translation technology in detail in order to provid a smooth IPv6 transiton program.Moreover, this paper designed in detail and achived host mode of IPv6 in IPv4 tunnel based on Open VPN, and successfully set up an experimental environment of the application layer tunnel and achived the IVI translation system at the BUPT-NIC laboratory. The application layer tunnel includes IPv6 in IPv4 tunnel and IPv4 in IPv6 tunnel. Furthermore, the paper carried out some tests and analyzed experimental data, which provided evidence for the feasibility of these two technogies. Meanwhile, the paper found some problems about these two technogies by testing. Then the paper made a detailed analysis and proposed solutions to improve them. It proposed a new operation mode--gateway mode to solve the problem of application layer tunnel's host mode and proposed an idea of combining IVI technology with IPv6 in IPv4 tunnel to solve the problem of IVI technology partially. Also the paper verified the feasibility of this improvement for IVI by testing. These solutions are benefit for IPv6 smooth transition.In addition, this paper designed in detail and achived the gateway mode of application layer tunnel based on Open VPN. Then the paper did some tests and analyed the data, which proved that the feasiblity of gateway mode and host mode of application layer tunnel.In the End, Based on IVI technology and application layer tunnel techmology, the paper proposed a relatively smooth IPv6 transition program. The core idea of the program is that the whole process of IPv6 transition can be divided into 4 stages. Accroding to the different characteristics of every transition phrase, we can adopt different application layer tunnel combinated with IVI to provide network service for users.
