This thesis chose reports of the officer second generation(Officer2G)in Sina net forsampling. With the help of framing analysis, the thesis categorized the media image of theOfficer2G,endeavored to dissect the presentation model of the Officer2G’s media imageas well as the contributing factors behind that.The thesis selected reports of the “Officer2G” as search keywords as researchsubjects of Sina net during2009.08.31-2013.07.31.Further,the study probed into threeaspects of Subject, Discourse and Expression, therefore found that the reports focused ontwo topics about “official selection” and “criminal”, and tend to use the comments ofthird-party(including reporters, experts and scholars, bystanders, etc.) to state their positionand guide public opinion. In the expression, the media highlighted through contrast,labeling, scene construction and detail description hints to influence the audience tounderstand the facts of the news, and besides that they tend to have news features andoriginal comic to supplement the negative image of Officer2G.Overall, the media imageshowing three characters of Officer2G as follows: First, Negative; Second, Stigma; Third,Supporting role. Based on the above, this thesis analyzed the contributing factors for theOfficer2G’s media image in terms of the media and the Officer2G themselves.Finally, this thesis analyzed the inadequacies of the papers from thecomprehensiveness of the sample and the depth of the theoretical, and then described thesubsequent research directions.
