A Framing Analysis Of Current Chinese Media Coverage Of Environmental Issues

This paper intends to discuss how the media to construct the issues on environment and points out the matters and deficiencies on environment, and then extends some suggestions for improvement. This study tries to analyze the newspaper reports based on the frame theory by the methods of literature analysis, content analysis and test analysis with the focus mainly on the People's Daily, China Environment Daily and Southern Metropolitan Daily. This paper first introduces the origin of this study, sorting out problems and research method, then summarizes the status of our country'environment and environment report and sums up the characteristic and the shortage of environment report study. The main part of this paper is to make frame analysis on environment report. First of all, the frame features of different kinds of newspapers will be listed in a macroscopic way. It has been found that the traditional party news paper has laid particular stress on the frame of achievements construction; commercialized papers have focused on problem-exposure frame and specialized paper have emphasized on the multipolar frame. At the same time, this paper intends to rethink the problems existing in the environment reports, and then gives a detailed analysis on the constructing process of reports frame.
