With the rapid changes of the market and the development and transformation of modern manufacturing industry, the transformation of manufacturing industry is gradually to the multi-varieties and small batch manufacturing, respond quickly to market changes and production process of changing direction. With this change, enterprises put forward higher requirements to the information of production workshop. However, over the years, the manufacturing industry of our country is used in the traditional manufacturing process, which has a characteristic of "top-down" according to plan production. So it leads to the information "fault" phenomenon between enterprise planning layer and workshop control layer. Manufacturing execution system (MES) is oriented to the workshop management information system, it can bridge the gap between the enterprise information management and manufacturing unit equipment control system, so as to solve the problem of "fault". By means of timely access to information and information exchange could solve this problem. Introducing the technology of Internet of things in MES, all kinds of dynamic information in real time access to the object using a variety of information sensing device, and then connect these object sensor by the network technology, the information intelligent processing, so as to achieve the management, coordination and control of the production workshop objects and equipment management, achieve greater economic benefits.This paper analyzes the machining workshop of discrete manufacturing workshop, which manufacturing industry is gradually changing to the small batch, variety of production methods. So it puts forward the Internet of things based manufacturing execution system to solve the manufacturing enterprise "fault" phenomenon, and gives the specific design ideas and framework of MES system. In addition to, it is using RFID technology and ZigBee technology designed manufacturing shop network system platform, realizes real-time acquisition, monitoring and data transmission production workshop. At the same time this paper analyzes the discrete manufacturing workshop management information response analysis and information exchange requirements, production task management, process information management and product and organization structure links integrated industrial engineering process analysis method and the theory of management information system. Then it uses Justep X5development platform implementing the MES system. Finally, this paper successfully connects the Internet of things with MES system. Therefore it realizes the response of production workshop and timely exchange of information, and makes the workshop production information, increases the degree of intensification of visualization. Besides, this paper instance shows the platform in the workshop assembly line.
