With the development of modern sensor technology, more integrated, complex and huge amounts WSNs (Wireless Sensor networks) are widely used in environmental monitoring. As a major member of information area, sensor technology plays an important role in information acquisition and data processing and other fields.In the paper, a platform for environmental monitoring is designed, which is based on wireless sensor networks. Firstly, this paper introduces the concept of wireless sensor network (WSN) and the basic principle and research status in domestic and international situation, and researches in detail the various ZigBee protocol stack, data transmission designing. Secondly, the appropriate hardware to CC2530chip is selected as the core of the sensor module and gateway modules for the environmental monitoring, while the data transceiver module is designed to achieve the basic function of the software and optimized treatment. Finally, a test is completed on the environment monitoring in the accuracy, reliability for data transmission platform and real-time monitoring. This platform for environmental monitoring can implement numerous occasions against the reality of effective information monitoring, especially in the case of meeting some abnormal data, which can display the alarm information in time, and store the real-time data in the database.In general, the monitoring platform has a lot of advantage, such as high reliability, strong stability, low energy consumption, simple and convenient operation, it also has wide application field.
